Check your file

Is your raw DNA file ready for a health report? Check it here.

Drop the file you downloaded from your DNA test. The check runs inside this tab: it recognises the provider, counts the markers and tells you how many of the 23'220 catalog associations and 1'114 conditions your file can be matched against. No account, nothing uploaded; close the tab and the file is gone.

Works with files from 23andMe · AncestryDNA · MyHeritage · FamilyTreeDNA · Living DNA · WeGene

The export from your provider, not a PDF or an ancestry summary.

Checked in this browser tab. Nothing is sent anywhere.

What this check does

  • ●Reads the marker names (rsIDs) at the start of each line and counts them, in your browser's memory.
  • ●Compares them with the 23'220 catalog associations the reports are built on, and counts the overlap per catalog and per condition.
  • ●Recognises the provider from the file header, so you know which format to pick when generating.

What it does not do

  • ○It does not read, keep or send your genotypes. No request leaves the page with your file; verify it in the Network tab of your browser.
  • ○It says nothing about your health. A high overlap means the reports have more to work with, not that anything was found.
  • ○It does not generate the report. That takes one credit and happens on the account page, also in your browser.

Questions

Before you drop the file

Is the file uploaded?
No. The page fetches a list of catalog marker names once, then reads your file inside the browser tab. Nothing containing your file leaves your device; open your browser's developer tools (Network tab) and watch.
Why does my file match only a quarter of the catalog?
Consumer tests measure a few hundred thousand positions chosen for ancestry and common traits, while the 23'220 catalog associations span many more. A quarter is typical for 23andMe and MyHeritage files; the report marks conditions with no matching variant as undetermined.
Which files work?
The raw-data export (.txt, .csv or .zip) from 23andMe, AncestryDNA, MyHeritage, FamilyTreeDNA, Living DNA and WeGene. VCF and whole-genome files are not supported yet.
Do I need an account to check?
No. The check needs no account and no payment. Generating the report itself needs an account and one credit, and also runs in your browser.
